Basically, the Program finances the following options: reforestation, protection of forests and agroforestry systems. In relation to reforestation, the amount payable is $816 per hectare, during a ten-year term; for protection of such systems, the amount is $64 per hectare during a five-year term, which can be extended for a five-year term or more; concerning agroforestry systems, $1,30 per tree, during a three-year term.

Which is the financing for environmental services?

It is in accordance with the terms provided in the Tax Simplification and Efficiency Law # 8114 in its Article 5; also, it comes from resources derived from the loan agreement entered into by the Government of Costa Rica and the World Bank, pursuant to Law # 8058. Also, it is provided through financial cooperation with the German Government, through the KfW Bank, ratified through Law #8355.
